SCULC is a one-day research conference catering to the linguistics community of the West Coast. Founded in 2010 by the enterprising board of Bruin Linguists, the student organization at UCLA dedicated the the furthering of the linguistics undergraduates at UCLA, SCULC aims to be for the West Coast and Southern California what other established linguistics conferences are for the East Coast and other regions of the United States. SCULC was borne out of the desire to share knowledge and foster strong connections between the many linguistics departments at colleges throughout Southern California.
Organization for SCULC, which is scheduled for early Spring, typically takes place throughout the year. It is entirely student-run and supported by contributions from the linguistics community, the Linguistics Department at UCLA, and individuals working to help enhance and expand the experience of undergraduates in linguistics.
SCULC is free for all participants, presenters, and guests. We provide a refreshments and coffee throughout the day, and a catered lunch.
